Meet Caleb

Caleb comes from a musically talented family that has been serving the Lord for many years.

At Pleasant Valley Ranch teen camp in 2014, Caleb surrendered to serve the Lord full-time with his life. After making this wonderful decision for God, he decided to attend Commonwealth Baptist College after seeking counsel from his youth pastor in Dayton, Ohio.

While at college, he met and married his wife, Erica, before graduating in 2021. Their prayer since entering the ministry has always been that God would make their path abundantly clear. In fact, Caleb has frequently said, “Lord, please make Your will evident by closing every door You do not want my family to go through.”

In 2022, God opened the door to intern part-time at Gospel Baptist Church under Pastor Jay Hubbard. It was here that Caleb began to truly understand the burden of a pastor and assistant pastor. While in the assistant position, Caleb found himself in several leadership positions that strengthened his comprehension of how much encouragement ministry leaders need. Caleb led the church’s bus ministry, taught a teen Sunday School, and helped in several soul-winning programs.

Caleb continued serving in this capacity until early 2024 when he felt God’s call strongly to serve full-time in evangelism. The Smith family has a unique history in sharing Gospel music and preaching with local churches around the country. Caleb prayed passionately for God’s will to be made clear for several months before actively pursuing evangelism. In September 2024, Caleb answered God’s call for full-time evangelism and began searching for places his family could serve other ministry leaders. The first opportunity they had was the Save New England Conference in the October of 2024.

Meet Erica

Erica’s mother taught her to sing and her family would travel to sing at other small churches. At 12 years old Erica’s family began attending Gospel Baptist Church and taking part in youth group activities. At a youth rally in 2007 in Columbus, Ohio, Erica surrendered her life to full-time service.

From then on, Erica determined to focus her life around how she could serve the Lord. She took piano and voice lessons to help her cultivate her musical talents for God. After hearing a sermon on the Parable of the Talents by Pastor Jay Hubbard, Erica resolved to use as many of her skills for the Master as she could.

To date Erica has published 11 songs and written over 30 Gospel songs that have a focal point of encouraging Christians in their service of the King. Erica says this about her call in ministry, “My personal burden is to see Christians encouraged and brought closer to Christ and offer comfort so that, as a whole, more people will be brought to Christ.”
